To begin with, do you know that today is "Tsukudani‘s day"?
In our experience, almost foreign guests do not know about Tsukudani.
"Tsukudani" is a food made by boiling small fish, shellfish, seaweed, etc. with soy sauce and mirin.
It is said that Tsukudani has been useful as a preserved food since long time ago and was often eaten during the war.
The history of Tsukudani goes back to the Edo period (around the 17th century).
Fisherman who lived in Tsukudamura saved the lives of Tokugawa Ieyasu due to the Honno-ji incident (currently Tsukuda, Nishiyodogawa Ward, Osaka Prefecture)
After he became top of shogun, he summoned the fishermen to Edo and gave them special fishing rights.
It is said that Tuskudani spread when samurai with alternative residences in Edo took Tsukudani back home as presents.
Let's return to the main subject. Why today is Tsukudani’s day?
On June 29th 1646, "Sumiyoshi Shrine" was built on "Tsukudajima Island" in Tokyo, which has a relationship with “Tsukudani”.
Based on this date, in 2004 the National Cooked Food Industry Cooperative Association established "Tsukudani’s day".

Tsukudajima is full of the charm of Tokyo, and it seems as if we had traveled 50 years ago.
Is it about 20 minutes by bicycle from Tokyo Station?
It is also a place where you can see the contrast of Tokyo.
Bicycles allow you to go where you can't go by sightseeing bus.

まず初めに、今日は「佃煮の日」だという事をご存じでしょうか？
海外のゲストの方で、佃煮の事を知っていた方は私達の経験上ほとんどいません。
「佃煮」とは小魚、貝類、海藻などを醤油、みりんなどで甘辛く煮つめた食べものです。
昔から佃煮は保存食として重宝され戦時中によく食べられたそうです。
佃煮の歴史は、江戸時代（17世紀頃）まで遡ります。
本能寺の変で徳川家康の命を救った摂津・佃村（現在の大阪府西淀川区佃）
の漁民たちを家康が江戸に呼び寄せ、特別の漁業権（恩賞）を与えました。
参勤交代で江戸に訪れていた武士が佃煮を国の土産にしたことから
全国に広まったそうです。
本題に戻ります。なんで今日が佃煮の日なのでしょうか？
1646年6月29日、佃煮と縁のある東京の「佃島」に「住吉神社」が造営された日です。
この日にちなんで、2004年に全国調理食品工業協組合が「佃煮の日」と定めました。
そんな佃煮は私達のPMツアー「佃島」で見る事ができます。
佃島には、東京の魅力がたくさん詰まり、まるで50年前にタイムスリップしたかのよう。ここが東京駅から自転車で約20分？
東京のコントラストが一望できる場所でもあります。
観光バスでは行く事ができない場所を自転車では可能にしてくれます。
